Dr. Mark Tan Kiak Min is Associate Professor (Medical Ethics) at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. He received his Doctorate in Bioethics from Loyola University Chicago and certification as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant by the Healthcare Ethics Consultant Certification Commission in the United States. He is a member of the Expert Working Group on Developing WHO Guidance on Clinical Ethics, and the Asia Pacific Bioethics Education Network. Mark currently serves as Chair of the Malaysian Medical Association Ethics Committee, Vice-President (Medical) of the Medico-Legal Society of Malaysia, and is a member of the Malaysian National Bioethics Council, as well as the Ethics Committee and Disciplinary Panel of the Malaysian Medical Council. His interests are in medical ethics education, medical professionalism, public health and systems ethics, transplant ethics and clinical ethics focusing on end-of-life care, mental capacity and advance decision-making. Mark has founded various ethics-related initiatives in Malaysia including Clinical Ethics Malaysia, the Malaysian Bioethics Community, as well as the clinical ethics consultation service at Universiti Teknologi MARA.
