Dr. Pauline Luk is a lecturer in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit and the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education at the University of Hong Kong. She holds a PhD in Communications and New Media, and her research spans medical education, mentorship, and mindfulness. She collaborates with researchers from diverse cultural backgrounds on health and wellness initiatives and develops learning modules and workshops in medical humanities and interprofessional education. A facilitator for Mindful Practice in Medicine (MPiM), a trained teacher in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT-L), a mindful yoga practitioner, and a singing bowl therapist, Dr. Luk integrates mindfulness into medical training to promote empathetic, compassionate patient care and self-compassion within healthcare settings.
