Mr Sudev Suthendran

About

Sudev is a senior clinical psychologist and part of the Medical Humanities team at Changi General Hospital. He is particularly interested in Narrative Medicine and its applications in inter-professional education. This stemmed from his schooling years being an avid fiction reader, an English Literature student and a creative writing educator. He was also recreationally involved in the literary arts scene previously and has had his poetry published.

In his current profession as a clinical psychologist, understanding, relating to and navigating the complexities of the human psyche is central to the work he does. To this end, he is interested in the relationship between language and mental health. Having personally experienced the impact of the literary arts in cultivating his sensitivity to the human condition, Sudev believes in its ability to foster a more compassionate, inclusive and equitable healthcare system.  

Sudev was also recently trained as a Poetry as a Tool for Wellness facilitator by the Institute of Poetic Medicine (USA) and hopes to be able to utilise poetry to support interprofessional growth, relational health and intrapersonal wellbeing. Clinically, he has keen interest and specialises in treating the psychological issues of under-served and minoritised communities.
