Programme Description:
If you love the performing arts, you must look after the performing artists.

Performing Arts Medicine specializes in the care of performing artists – dancers, instrumentalists, vocalists, actors (aka DIVAs) and others. Well-established in the West going back 50 years, it is only now emerging in Asia. There is a need to support the unique health and wellbeing needs of performers in Singapore’s thriving arts scene. June Sheren is a Family Physician who holds a Master’s in Performing Arts Medicine and works closely with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. She connects the principles of Family Medicine with Medical Humanities to keep performers healthy. Together with Frank De Meglio (Lasalle College of the Arts, University of the Arts Singapore) and Leslie Tan (Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music), they present key concepts in Performing Arts Medicine, aiming to inspire and empower health professionals to deliver the best possible care to performing artists.
