To understand the roles of specific investigations in the management of surgical patients.
To understand the management of acute and chronic surgical conditions, as well as pre- and post-operative care.
To understand the processes and structure within a surgical team, and to embed as much as possible into the team activities.
To understand the processes and system within a surgical theatre, including scrubbing up for surgery.
To appreciate the different scope of conditions and procedures performed in the major operating theatre, day surgery and in the outpatient clinics.
