L2 IMPACT! Developing a Conceptual Framework for Education Research

Health professionals interested in conducting education research may have heard of the term, ‘conceptual framework’. Many top health professionals education journals also explicitly state that they give priority to submissions which have a strong conceptual framework. Hence, being able to develop a strong conceptual framework seems to be imperative/ a pre-requisite for successful research dissemination.

So what’s a conceptual framework? Why do education researchers need to be explicit about their conceptual frameworks? Also, is a conceptual framework different from a theoretical framework? This hands-on workshop will help health professionals to answer these questions and, more importantly, to develop a conceptual framework for their education research projects.

Learning Objectives

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what is a conceptual framework
  • Explore how conceptual frameworks can guide the formulation of research questions and designs
  • Develop a conceptual framework for their education research projects

  • A laptop with Microsoft suite as workshop activities will be presented using Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Word
