Dr Jonathan Chan is an Associate Consultant in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Singapore General Hospital, where he balances acute clinical practice with a deep commitment to multidisciplinary health education and patient advocacy. 

He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network for the Department of Emergency Medicine. In this role, he is a key driver in integrating the patient perspective directly into the clinical environment. He facilitates specialised biannual communication workshops that pair patient advocates with medical officers, creating a unique platform for healthcare providers to refine their interpersonal skills and empathy through real-world feedback.

His dedication to academic excellence extends to the training of advanced clinical practitioners and the rigorous assessment of residents, and is actively involved in the education of Master of Nursing students and Advanced Practice Nurse interns, guiding them through the complexities of emergency care. Additionally, he contributes to the standards of professional practice by setting examinations for the Master of Medicine (Emergency Medicine). Through these various roles, he focusses on humanising medical training and ensuring that the next generation of clinicians remains deeply attuned to the patient experience within the high-pressure setting of the Emergency Department.
