Based on a neuroscience model of understanding how music co-regulates the nervous system, Dr Kwan advocates for compassion-focused interactions that center the care of self along with the care of others through training teachers and allied healthcare professionals. An Associate Editor of Music Therapy Perspectives and a member of its Editorial Board, Melanie is a Vice Chair of Collaboration, Innovation, & Governance (Strategic Collaborations) at the SingHealth College of Allied Health. A consultant for local and regional music and health initiatives, she enjoys mentoring students through clinical supervision and has been a locum lecturer at NAFA and UAS-LASALLE College of the Arts since 2007. Melanie was a Director and Assistant Professor of an American undergraduate music therapy programme. She provides Creative Arts Therapy (CAT) based supervision for clinical supervisors across varied disciplines.
