Michael Sy PhD is an occupational therapist, occupational scientist, and a health professions educator. He is currently a senior researcher at the Zurich of University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in Switzerland. His involvement in interprofessional education and practice spans including teaching the IPE module for bachelor's students in health sciences at the ZHAW, co-leading the Asia-Pacific Interprofessional Education and Collaboration Network, and serving as an editor for the Journal of Interprofessional Care (Taylor and Francis, UK) and the Journal of Practice Teaching and Learning (UK), The Clinical Teacher (Wiley) among others. In 2023, Michael was the recipient of the John H.V. Gilbert IPR.Global Award for outstanding interprofessional doctoral dissertation. Last March 2025, he published the book entitled "Occupational therapy in the Philippines: Theory, practice, and stories" by Routledge UK, where he served as the lead editor.
