Associate Professor Sirene Lim is the Dean of the S R Nathan School of Human Development (NSHD) at the Singapore University of Social Sciences. NSHD focuses on developing professionals who design and lead services in the care economy and human development sectors. The School houses degree programmes ranging from counselling, early childhood education, human capital management, and gerontology. Dr Lim’s own research interests include early childhood policies, childhood studies, children’s culture and voice, and teacher education. Dr Lim had joined the university to develop Singapore’s first 4-year, full-time, locally awarded Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (with minor) programme.

As an educator-researcher, she serves government agencies and non-profit organisations to raise the level of professional knowledge and catalyse local research to inform policy and practice in the education of young children at both the preschool and lower primary levels.
