Advanced Practice Nurse Tan Il Fan is the nursing education lead at the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and works both neurology and neurosurgery inpatient and outpatient setting. She has specific interest in stroke care. Il Fan manages all training and staff development matters, including developing new staff training programme, professional development, managing clinical attachments at NNI for students and nurses from other local and overseas hospitals, as well as clinical and bedside teaching, all alongside her clinical work. She has strong belief in interprofessional education, co-leading STRIPE (STRoke InterProfessional Education) in conducting and developing stroke related interprofessional training activities such as seminar, escape room and e-learning.

Il Fan is an adjunct lecturer in National University of Singapore and spends about 20 per cent of her time teaching the Master of Nursing programme. She is leading one module on Integrated Clinical Decision Making and Management, which includes neuroscience, endocrine, musculoskeletal and mental health topics. She is also a involves in National Collaborative Practitioner Prescribing programme, which trains nurses and pharmacists on neuroscience component.

Il Fan also a member of SingHealth College of Clinical Nursing faculty development workgroup and Singhealth APN faculty development workgroup. She also heavily involves in global health, arranging and accepting oversea nurses for training in NNI.

Il Fan is leading SingHealth Neuroscience Nursing Council, aiming to standardise neuroscience practices and develop neuroscience advance training program for nurses across Singhealth institutions.
