Professor Jennifer Cleland is an internationally recognised medical education scholar. She was the inaugural John Simpson Chair of Medical Education Research (2011-2020), University of Aberdeen, before moving to Lee Kong Chian (LKC) School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore in 2020. She was Vice-Dean of Education, LKC Medicine 2020-2024, and is currently President’s Chair in Medical Education and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Digital Education and Digital Health in Singapore; Wade Professor of Surgical Education, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEdin), and Editor-in-Chief of Medical Teacher. 

She has been honoured with honorary professorial/ external faculty appointments at seven universities across four continents. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers, RCSEdin, and the Academy of Medical Educators, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. She was recipient of the Ian Hart International Award for Innovation in Medical Education (2022) and the Karolinska Institutet Prize for Research in Medical Education (2024).
