Mr Pedro Cartaxo Cintra

Pedro has a clinical background as a critical care registered nurse, currently working in intensive care units at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona. Alongside his clinical practice, he serves as the academic coordinator for the Clinical Simulation and Patient Safety module within the Master’s Degree in Critical Care and Emergencies at the Universitat de Barcelona, where he teaches both medical and nursing students. 

His work also includes developing and coordinating simulation-based therapeutic patient education innovative research programmes. In parallel, he is deeply engaged in exploring transformative simulation and its potential (both pedagogical and non-pedagogical) to build synergies and ecosystems that connect education, clinical practice, and organisational learning. 

Pedro has a strong interest in healthcare management and leadership, with his PhD thesis focusing on the impact of internal marketing on the nursing work environment and patient safety. 

Since 2023, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of SESAM, serving as Treasurer and contributing to the society’s strategic and financial planning.
