Designing and Supporting Research: How Can Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists Help?

This workshop will cover topics related to how healthcare simulation technology specialists (HSTS) can leverage their expertise to support simulation-based research. In addition to standard simulation equipment, trainees will be introduced to other technological solutions that can assist in measuring and documenting variables that are not commonly captured with traditional simulation/AV technology. For practical application, a presentation of a recent research study that CAPE completed will be provided.

For the workshop activity, participants will break out into small groups to come up with a research topic and leverage their expertise as an HSTS to identify technology to support an optimal study protocol.

Learning Objectives :  

1. Participants will learn several methodologies for supporting research that requires measurement and recording of multiple video inputs
2. Participants will learn ways to support consistency of research trial administration
3. Participants will develop a better understanding of documentation practices that help when needing to refer back to a video for further analysis
