Please join us in welcoming Professor Lim Soon Thye as the newly appointed Academic Chair,              SingHealth Duke-NUS Oncology Academic Clinical Programme (ONCO ACP) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), effective from 1 December 2023.

Professor Lim Soon Thye is a medical oncologist by training and an accomplished clinician leader who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in his multiple clinical and research leadership roles. He is currently the Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer (Research & Education), SingHealth and Associate Dean, Doctor of Medicine (MD) Programmes, Duke-NUS. Since 2015, he was conferred the distinguished Tanoto Foundation Professorship in Medical Oncology in recognition of his pioneering work on the genetic basis of cancers prevalent in Asia.

Given Professor Lim’s strong leadership track record, outstanding academic credentials, and his unwavering commitment to excellence, he is well-poised to build on the strong foundations laid by Professor William Hwang and elevate ONCO ACP’s academic medicine agenda to greater heights and advance NCCS’s pursuit of excellence in clinical service, education and research.

We would like to express our sincerest thanks and respect to Professor William Hwang for his strategic stewardship and remarkable contributions as he relinquishes his role as Academic Chair, ONCO ACP and CEO, NCCS. During his tenure, Professor Hwang played a crucial role in guiding the planning and execution of a comprehensive suite of infrastructure projects, services, and operations. He also took the lead in driving various innovative initiatives that solidified NCCS' global standing in integrated cancer care and research. As an accessible and collaborative leader, Prof Hwang steered the development and successful transition to the new NCCS building.

He will continue his contributions to Academic Medicine as Co-Director, SingHealth Duke-NUS Regenerative Medicine Institute of Singapore (REMEDIS). He will also be appointed to the SingHealth Board of Advisors and conferred the title of Senior Advisor, SingHealth, with effect from 1 December 2023.
