ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The
SingHealth Technology Incubator (SCOUT)
is set up to nurture promising research and innovation projects conducted throughout SingHealth and accelerate their momentum towards commercialisation and medical deployment specifically via spinning off start-up companies. As such, the incubator will support highly promising technology development projects that show the potential to be privately fundable as standalone companies.
The incubator is centred on PI-led project teams supported by the SCOUT office, SingHealth Institution(s) and SingHealth itself on administration, finance, market research, legal and intellectual property, leveraging on external consultants where needed, bringing in entrepreneurs and experienced mentors to work with the teams and subsequently linking to investors and potential industry partners at later stages.
OUR SUPPORT FOR PIPELINE RESEARCH & INNOVATION PROJECTS
SCOUT provides a comprehensive support envelope to project teams, equipping them with financial resources, administrative assistance, expert consultancy and entrepreneurship guidance. This robust support empowers project teams to navigate through the intricate path to commercialisation and eventually successful spin-offs.
PRINCIPLES
ELIGBILITY
Inventions and technology eligible for inclusion in the incubator framework can come from any source, provided SingHealth holds a substantial interest in them and they have potential for commercialisation via a startup company. The overarching incubation strategy aims to give promising projects the opportunity to prove themselves and validate the technology under development, while building the business proposition concomitant to the technology development process.
Potential technologies/projects will be assessed on several important parameters, including:
The SCOUT Investment Committee holds the authority to decide the eligibility of projects for support by the incubator framework.
