Objective

Under the Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2020, the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) domain aims to develop and strengthen technological capabilities to support continued growth and competitiveness of Singapore's manufacturing and engineering sectors, so as to achieve GDP growth, create good jobs for Singaporeans and position the economy for the future. The AME Individual Research Grants (IRG) thematic grant call on Cleaner Manufacturing aims to develop novel and fresh R&D ideas that are in line with the AME strategies and goals; solicited through a thematic, investigator-led, ground-up mechanism across the research ecosystem. A*STAR has been appointed as the Implementing Agency for the AME IRG thematic grant call on Cleaner Manufacturing.

 

Eligibility

Applicants are generally required to fulfil the following criteria at the point of application:

  1. All interested researchers with qualification of PhD, MD, MBBS or BDS are welcome to apply. 

*Industry and non-local research performers can participate as collaborators, but will not be eligible for any funding.

  1. PI should hold a primary appointment in a local publicly funded institution for a minimum of 9 months (per calendar year) and salaried by the institution.

  1. Upon award, the PI must fulfil at least 6 months of residency in Singapore for each calendar year over the duration of the grant award.

  1. Demonstrated track record in securing national grants and leading independent research as PI or Co-PI. PI’s publication records in the past 3 years and status in research institutes would also be taken into consideration.

 

Funding Details
Typically up to S$750,000 per project (inclusive of 20% indirect costs) over 3 years.

 

Submission

  1. Applications must be submitted online via A*STAR’s Integrated Grant Management System (iGrants) system (internet accessible link)

The following documents should be uploaded to the relevant sections in iGrants:
a) Full proposal
b) Proposed Budget, Milestones, Work Contributions and KPIs

  1. Each application must be endorsed by the Host Institution's Research Director (or equivalent) prior to submission. This is to ensure that there is organisational support for the PI to participate in the grant call.
