Objective

Against the backdrop of new variants of infectious disease threatening public health worldwide, the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) at Tan Tock Sing Hospital (TTSH) aims to improve Singapore's response to outbreaks. The NCID Short Term Fellowship is awarded by National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) to promote collaborative research excellence in Singapore.

The fellowship will allow successful applicants to:

  • Either invite potential international collaborators/experts to Singapore for up to 14 working days for Incoming Fellowship. The visit can be split into 7 working days at each stretch.
  • Or spend up to 14 working days overseas on a research training attachment at a leading infectious diseases institution within Asia and Australasia for Outgoing Fellowship. The visit can be split into 7 working days at each stretch.
  • All visits have to be completed within FY2019.

The aims of the NCID Short Term Fellowship are as follows:

  • To equip infectious disease professionals/researchers with specific skills and experience relevant to their area of research.
  • To encourage, foster networking and to develop research collaborations with overseas institutions.
  • To provide promising young researchers with exposures to the diversity of infectious diseases research in Asia/Australasia.

Funding Details

The fellowship award is capped up to S$10,000 for either the Incoming Fellowship or the Outgoing Fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria

This fellowship is open to the following applicants, ranked in descending order of preference:

  1. Clinical researchers recently awarded NCID or NMRC grants#
  2. Clinical researchers planning on applying for grants# in the near future
  3. Other investigators involved in infectious diseases research

#In the area of Infectious Diseases or Clinical Microbiology

Submission

Interested applicants are to submit a completed file ‘FY2019 NCID SHORT TERM FELLOWSHIP - application form’ (attached) through your Host Institution’s Research Office to NCID Research Coordinating Office Secretariat at rco_grants@ncid.sg by 16 December 2019 (Monday).

Applicants are allowed to apply for either Incoming Fellowship or Outgoing Fellowship. Please take note of the documents to be submitted for the respective fellowships below.
