Objective

The Target Translation Consortium (TTC) brings together the resources and expertise of Singapore's public research performers to facilitate the preclinical validation of early drug targets arising from publicly-funded research.

They aim to inform investigators earlier and better about the drug development potential of their proposed target, by helping investigators to:

  • Establish a strong causal link between the target and disease pathogenesis

  • Demonstrate that target modulation results in the desired therapeutic effect

This enhances opportunities for future funding or partnership opportunities around these targets and increases the chances for success in drug discovery.

TTC is looking for potential drug targets in all therapeutic areas, identified by academic researchers in Singapore.

  • The proposed target or approach* should be original and should address an unmet medical need. (*Therapeutic repurposing approaches will also be accepted.)

  • The proposal should include initial data suggesting a causativeor promoting role of the target in a human disease.

  • All proposed therapeutic modalities (small molecules, biologics, cell/gene/immuno therapy, protein degradation approaches and others) will be accepted for consideration.

Funding Details

Selected projects will benefit from

  • Collaboration with drug discovery specialists* to define critical "killer" experiments in order to preclinically validate/ invalidate the proposed target or approach.

  • Public research expertise and capabilities that can progress the project will be identified and offered for the investigator's consideration.

  • Seed funding which will be provided to cover costs of consumables and services for these "killer" experiments. Funding quantum can vary depending on experimental needs.

*Drug Discovery Specialists are scientists with drug discovery experience.

Eligibility Criteria

All SingHealth researchers are welcome to apply.

  • Researchers should have relevant scientific or technical background to drive the proposed project.

  • Early career researchers are welcome to apply.
