The AM-ETHOS Duke-NUS Medical Student Fellowship (Duke-NUS MSF) aims to support Duke-NUS Medical Students who are undertaking Phase 3 research/scholarly projects with a Mentor from the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Clinical Programme (ACP). This will allow medical student awardees to have first-hand experience of the health system during their Phase 3 research/scholarly projects emplacement within the ACPs with their ACP mentors and for better line-of-sight by the ACPs.
The AM-ETHOS Duke-NUS MSF Grant supports research activities such as clinical, translational, other Research (e.g. Meta-analysis, medical education research, Epidemiology, Population Health, Basic Science and Global Health studies etc.) or other Scholarly activities (e.g. Health Innovation, Public Health Policy, Medical Education-Curriculum Proposal, etc.) of the Medical Student and ACP Mentor.
i. The duration of funding support is 8 months, with the possibility of a 6 months extension (subject to review and approval).
ii. The amount for the Duke-NUS MSF Grant is up to S$3,000 per Medical Student and ACP Mentor pair, through disbursement to the ACP Mentor's Host Institution within SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.
iii. The grant may be used to offset expenses directly related to the development of the project e.g. consumables, research lab tests & reagents etc.

v. The grant cannot be used to offset travel expenses that arise out of research requirements. Students may apply for SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute Medical Student Research Award (SDGHI MSRA) to see support for overseas travel costs, if any, for global health projects. Please contact SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) for any travel-related queries.
AM-ETHOS Duke-NUS MSF is open to Duke-NUS Medical Students who meets the following eligbility criteria:
i. Undertaking their Phase 3 Research/Scholarly projects in the current Academic Year with a mentor from SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Clinical Programme (ACP)
ii. The ACP mentor is in the list of Duke-NUS Approved Research Mentor.
Note for ACP Mentor: To be a Duke-NUS Approved Research Mentor, the faculty may apply directly with Duke-NUS Office of Medical Education, MD Programme Department.

1. My primary mentor is from a Duke-NUS Signature Research Programme (SRP). Can I apply for MSF?
Ans: The applicant should have an ACP mentor who is in the list of Duke-NUS Approved Research Mentor. The applicant should consider a Co-Mentor who is from the ACP.
