Academic Chair Transition in ANAES ACP

Synonym(s):

Welcoming a new Academic Chair for SingHealth Duke-NUS Anesthesiology & Perioperative Sciences Academic Clinical Programme (ANAES ACP)

We are pleased to welcome Clinical Associate Professor Tan Kian Hian as the newly appointed Academic Chair, SingHealth Duke-NUS ANAES ACP and Chairman, Division of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Sciences, SGH with effect from 1 November 2025.

Clinical Associate Professor Tan Kian Hian has demonstrated consistent leadership and a strong commitment to advancing academic medicine. He guided the SGH Pain Management Centre through its transition into the Department of Pain Medicine and, as Head of the Department of SGH Anaesthesiology from 2020 to 2023, strengthened clinical services while expanding capacity to support the growth of SGH Campus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led his team in supporting SGH’s response and community care operations, reflecting his dedication to both service and leadership.

Since February 2023, he has served as Academic Vice Chair, Strategic Initiatives in ANAES ACP, fostering alignment across clinical, educational, and research efforts.

Bringing both experience and perspective to his new roles, Clinical Associate Professor Tan is well-placed to build on the strong groundwork laid by Associate Professor Soh Chai Rick to further strengthen the Division and ANAES ACP’s academic mission.

We would also like to acknowledge the leadership and contributions of Associate Professor Soh Chai Rick over the past six years as Academic Chair, ANAES ACP. Under his stewardship, the ACP made significant strides in education, research and innovation, supported by sustained project funding and active faculty engagement.
