Academic Chair Transition in MED ACP

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Clinical Professor Tan Thuan Tong as the newly appointed Academic Chair, SingHealth Duke-NUS MED ACP and Chairman, Division of Medicine, SGH with effect from 1 November 2025.

Clinical Professor Tan Thuan Tong is a respected and accomplished academic clinician known for his contributions in infectious diseases and clinical leadership. He established and led the Infectious Diseases Senior Residency Programme in 2012 and served as Head of Department of Infectious Diseases, SGH from 2014 to 2023, during which he expanded clinical services for immunocompromised and transplant patients and strengthened infection control measures.

Clinical Professor Tan’s academic leadership and teaching contributions have been recognised through various accolades, and his induction into the Duke-NUS Hall of Master Academic Clinicians in 2025 reflects his standing as a role model in academic medicine. In his new role as Academic Chair, MED ACP,  Clinical Professor Tan Thuan Tong will build on the strong foundations laid by Associate Professor Loo Chian Min and lead MED ACP in advancing excellence in clinical care, education and research excellence.

Associate Professor Loo Chian Min will be appointed Chairman Medical Board, SGH (CMB, SGH) and Associate Dean, Office of Academic Medicine (SGH Campus), Duke-NUS with effect from 1 November 2025.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Associate Professor Loo for his dedicated service as Academic Chair, MED ACP since 2020. Under his leadership, MED ACP has made significant progress in advancing in research, education , innovation and medical humanities. His commitment to fostering a culture of clinical and academic excellence has shaped the growth of MED ACP and will continue to inspire future generations of academic clinicians.
