Dr. Brynjar Foss is the Educational Service Lead at Laerdal Medical in Stavanger, Norway, with extensive experience in simulation-based education and digital learning innovation. Dr. Foss has served as a facilitator at SAFER, a Stavanger-based and internationally recognized healthcare simulation center, where he has contributed to advancing simulation pedagogy. As one of the creators and lead instructors of the SimBegin® Program, Dr. Foss has developed and delivered evidence-based entry-level facilitator training, supporting the professional growth of simulation educators globally.

With a background as Professor and Educational Lead, Dr. Foss has authored several books and numerous peer-reviewed articles. Recent publications include “SimBegin: An evidence-based entry level facilitator program” (International Journal of Healthcare Simulation, 2024), as well as co-authored studies on debriefing competency and culturally adapted meta-debriefing in simulation faculty development (Advances in Simulation, 2025, manuscripts in press). Dr. Foss’s research and teaching focus on blended learning, digital game-based learning, and the integration of technology in health education. Recognized for educational innovation, curriculum development, and faculty training, Dr. Foss regularly contributes to international conferences on simulation and health education.
