Nursing Innovation Symposium
CGH Nursing Transformation’s Odyssey: Building an Innovative Culture
Date: 19 Sep 2025, Friday | Time: 1310 - 1450 | Track Type: Symposium | Venue: PSL2, Level 2, Academia
Innovation is crucial for sustainable healthcare, particularly in nursing. Changi General Hospital (CGH) has implemented a systematic approach to foster a culture of nursing innovation, transitioning from isolated efforts to a structured, supportive ecosystem. This aligns with CGH's vision of "Innovating Healthcare for Tomorrow" and demonstrates a commitment to improving productivity and enhancing patient care. This aligns with SingHealth Group Nursing’s mission of building a pool of Nurse Innovators.
CGH Nursing Transformation’s comprehensive workflow guides ground nurses in initiating new projects, encouraging grassroots innovation. The launch of SparkTank, CGH's Nursing Innovation Interest Group, further cultivates this innovative spirit. This initiative creates a network of passionate professionals who drive change through evidence-based innovations in healthcare delivery. SparkTank serves as a dynamic platform for collaborative learning and idea sharing, bringing together nurses from various specialties and experience levels.
Cross-institutional learning has played a significant role in the programme's success. Fellowships involving CGH, cluster, and cross-cluster participants have enriched CGH Nursing Transformation, facilitating knowledge exchange and best practice sharing. This collaborative approach ensures that innovations are not developed in isolation but benefit from diverse perspectives and experiences.
A notable project from this initiative is Multi-user Augmented Reality and Interactive Simulation (MARIS). MARIS employs Augmented Reality and Interactive Simulation to instruct on pressure injury assessment and management, based on real-life cases. The incorporation of AI assessment provides real-time feedback, significantly enhancing the learning experience for nurses.
By nurturing a new generation of nurse innovators and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, CGH is positioning itself at the forefront of healthcare innovation. This approach not only improves the quality of patient care but also ensures the sustainability of healthcare services in the face of evolving challenges.
