Tegafur/Gimeracil/Oteracil (TS-1®)

• Decrease in the white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets
  To minimize infection, wash your hands after using the toilet and before handling food, and take precaution when visiting crowded places or being around sick people.
• Nausea and vomiting
  Your doctor may prescribe certain medicines to prevent or manage this; take them accordingly as instructed.
• Tiredness and lack of energy
• Diarrhea, which may be severe
  If you have more than 4 bowel movements a day, stop taking TS-1 and contact your doctor.

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

• Fever of 38°C or higher, sores in the mouth and throat 
• Rashes
• Sudden onset or gradual worsening of cough and/or breathlessness
• Chest pain or irregular heartbeat
• Unusual bleeding, bruising or black stools
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark tea-coloured urine and severe abdominal pain
• Side effects become severe

• Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you:
• Are taking other medicines or supplements e.g. warfarin, phenytoin
• Have any other medical conditions e.g. heart problems.
• Effective birth control measures are recommended for both men and women during and for 6 months after treatment with TS-1. Inform your doctor if you plan to or suspect that you are pregnant.
• Do not breastfeed. Inform your doctor if you intend to breastfeed while taking TS-1.

It is a capsule to be taken by mouth twice daily, after breakfast and after the evening meal.
Take the exact number of capsules and follow the dosing schedule as instructed by your doctor.

​If you miss a dose of TS-1, take it as soon as you remember. However if it is too near to your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing time. Do not double the dose.

​If you overdose on this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.

​Do not crush, chew or open the capsules.
