Objective
The Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity (MTC) domain aims to develop and strengthen technological capabilities to support continued growth and competitiveness of Singapore’s manufacturing and engineering sectors, so as to achieve GDP growth, create good jobs for Singaporeans and position the economy for the future.
The MTC IRG call aims to develop novel and fresh R&D ideas that are in line with the MTC strategies and goals, solicited through an investigator-led, ground up mechanism across the research ecosystem.
Eligibility
All interested researchers with qualification of PhD or equivalent from SingHealth cluster institutions are welcome to apply. Industry and non-local research performers can participate as collaborators, but will not be eligible for any funding.
PI should hold a primary appointment of at least 75% in a local publicly funded institution and salaried by the institution.
Applicants should not have any outstanding reports for all national grants currently or previously held.
Funding Details
Typically up to S$1.2M per project (inclusive of 30% indirect costs) over 3 years.
Submission/Application procedure
Applications must be submitted online via the iGrants. Note: Each Applicant is only allowed to submit one application as a PI for either the IRG or the YIRG.
The following documents should be uploaded to the relevant sections in iGrants:
a) Full proposal
Each application must be endorsed by the Host Institution's Research Director (or equivalent) prior to submission. This is to ensure that there is organisational support for the PI to participate in the grant call.
Note: SingHealth PIs are to refer to their respective Institutional Research Administrators for guidance on internal deadlines and submission procedures set by their institutions.
