Background

The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) is launching the FY2026 Short-Term Fellowship call for applications to facilitate collaborative infectious disease (ID) research between healthcare and research institutions in Singapore and beyond. The fellowship will allow successful local ID researchers to:

  • Invite potential international collaborators/experts (Overseas Expert) to Singapore for up to 14 days (Incoming Fellowship).
  • Or spend up to 14 days overseas on a research training attachment at a leading ID institution (Outgoing Fellowship).

All visits must be completed before 31 January 2027.

Funding Details

The fellowship award is up to S$10,000. This sum will include: Return economy airfare via the most direct route, daily allowance, airport transfer, travel insurance and/or visa fees, withholding tax (for Incoming Fellowships only). 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should be ID researchers in a local institution who have demonstrated current active research (e.g., approved projects, awarded grants, publications) in the area of the proposed visit. 

  • Previous recipients of any Short-Term Fellowship awarded by the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) or CDA will not be considered.
  • Visits to or from countries with travel advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs1 will not be supported.

Submission

Interested applicants are invited to complete the form and submit (i) a single Microsoft Word document (without signatures) and (ii) a single endorsed PDF document (with signatures and supporting documents e.g. quotations) through their Institutional Research Office to the Grant Secretariat (RCA_Grants@cda.gov.sg) by 27 March 2026 (Friday), 6pm.

Note: SingHealth applicants are to please refer to your respective Institutional Research Office for guidance on internal deadlines and submission procedures set by your institutions. Applications must be endorsed by the institutional authorities (e.g., Department Head, Director of Research or equivalent) to ensure institutional support, ownership, and oversight of the project.
