Objective

The ExxonMobil-NUS Research Fellowship for Clinicians sponsored by the ExxonMobil Scholarship Fund, is a local fellowship for clinicians who wish to pursue research training in Singapore.

The objective of the Fellowship is to recruit and nurture a promising cadre of clinician-scientists in Singapore actively involved in translational research by ensuring protected time for awardees to learn, undertake and develop a passion for research activity and administration.

Funding Details

The quantum for each award will be $100,000 per awardee for a period of 1 year.

Please note that the funding will follow the funding structure (either Option 1 or Option 2) below:

  1. Option 1

    • 20% protected time (up to $2,500 per month or $30,000 per year)

    • $70,000 grant funding to support awardee research project

  1. Option 2

    • 40% protected time (up to $5,000 per month or $60,000 per year)

    • $40,000 grant funding to support awardee research project

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Open to clinicians who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents.

  2. Senior Medical Officers, Senior Residents, Registrars, Associate Consultants to Consultant level.

  3. Candidates must be able to commit 20% or 40% of time to research.

  4. Candidates must be attached to a basic science laboratory/research facility for a period of 1 year.

  5. Candidates should seek approval from their respective Heads of Department (HOD) to ensure support from his or her Institution. For senior resident applications only, approvals from their respective HOD and Department Residency Program Director are required.

  6. The supervisor/mentor must be full time NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine academic staff or adjunct member from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with good track record.
