Objective

The Singapore Therapeutics Development Review (STDR), jointly organized by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), National Health Innovation Centre (NHIC) and Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), aims to identify potential high-value drug discovery and development projects from the research community in Singapore, to render the right support and guidance to progress promising projects, and to build a sustainable pipeline of drug discovery and development projects that is aligned to Singapore’s strategic interests.

 

Funding Details

The award includes up to $750K over a period of up to 3 years.

 

Eligibility Criteria

For applications without a Clinical PI

For applications with a Clinical PI

A maximum of 1 Technical PI is allowed.

A maximum of 1 Clinical PI and 1 Technical PI is allowed.

 

Please note that applicants are required to fulfill the following criteria at the point of application:

Clinical PI:

  • Must hold a primary appointment in a public healthcare institution or academic medical school in Singapore and be salaried by the institution
  •  
  • Must have relevant scientific/technical background and possess necessary experience to direct the project being supported by the grant
  •  
  • Applicants who fulfil the criteria of Clinical PI are also eligible to apply as the Technical PI.

 

Technical PI:

  • Must be employed by public-funded institution in Singapore (e.g. NUS, NTU, SUTD, SIT, SIM, SMU, A*STAR Institutions, Polytechnics, CREATE Institutions, SGH, DUKE-NUS, NUH and etc.)
      
  • Must have relevant scientific/technical background and possess necessary experience to direct the project being supported by the grant 

 

Submission

  1. Applicants are to submit their completed LOI applications to SingHealth Intellectual Property Office, SHIP (SHIP@singhealth.com.sg) through Host Institution's Research Office by 4 May 2020, 2pm for preliminary assessment. SHIP will then send the feedback to the applicants for revision (if any).

  2. Applicants are to forward the finalised LOI application to SHIP for their endorsement, prior to the softcopy submission online via A*STAR's Integrated Grant Management System (iGrants) system (internet accessible link) by 25 May 2020 (Monday), 11:59pm.

    • For single SingHealth applications (i.e. applications without a Clinical PI): Each application must be endorsed by the Host Institution's Research Director (or equivalent) prior to submission online by Technical PI.

    • For joint applications involving SingHealth & Non-SingHealth institutions (i.e. applications with 1 Clinical PI and 1 Technical PI): Each application must be endorsed by both Host Institutions' Research Directors (or equivalent) and Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) prior to submission online. Only 1 PI (either Clinical PI or Technical PI) can submit the application online.

      This is to ensure that there is organisational support for the PI to participate in the grant call.
  1. Shortlisted LOI applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by STDR Secretariat through their respective research office.
