IPE Day 2025: Celebrating Authentic Patient Partnerships
Hosted by AMEI's Centre for InterProfessional Health Education (CIPHE), IPE Day 2025 brought together 122 healthcare professionals for an inspiring exploration of Relationship-focused Care.
Authentic Patient Stories Take Center Stage
The day's most powerful moments emerged from genuine patient experiences shared through our talk show format. Distinguished speakers from the University of Toronto's Centre for Advancing Collaborative Healthcare & Education (CACHE), Asst Prof Dean Lising, Asst Prof Lynne Sinclair, and Prof Ivy Oandasan, and patient advocates from SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN), Mr Ellil Mathiyan Lakshmanan and Ms Ai Ling Sim-Devadas, wove compelling narratives that demonstrated how interprofessional collaboration transforms lives, not just clinical outcomes.
The emotional highlight came when a patient presented flowers to her care team — a spontaneous gesture of appreciation that perfectly embodied the relationship-focused care we strive to achieve. This touching moment reminded everyone present why collaborative healthcare matters: it's about human connections that heal beyond medical interventions.
Excellence in Practice: Award-Winning Innovation
The programme showcased exceptional work by Dr Gillian Sonia Hendriks and Ms Hafizah Mohamad Kamil of KKH's Emergency Department team, whose project "Efficient Screening for Adolescent Psychosocial Problems in the Emergency Department" has garnered recognition at both institutional and cluster levels. This award-winning initiative exemplifies how interprofessional collaboration can address complex healthcare challenges while improving patient experiences.
IPE Day 2025 empowered participants to return to their roles as champions of collaboration, ready to deepen patient partnerships, and turn insights into action.
Keen to embark on your journey of embracing IPE in your work? Stay tuned to the programmes and events organised by AMEI CIPHE!
