SingHealth Duke-NUS Patient Safety Week

The annual SingHealth Duke-NUS Patient Safety Week (PSW) marks our dedication to reaffirm our commitment to Patient Safety and Target Zero Harm, where all our institutions across the cluster lead their own initiatives where they too, renew their commitment to Target Zero Harm. Helmed by the SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute for Patient Safety & Quality (IPSQ), this is an excellent opportunity for all of us to come together as an Academic Medical Centre.

SingHealth Duke-NUS Patient Safety Week Kick-off Event 2023 is themed 'Embracing Change and Partnership Culture for Patient Safety' and aims to foster partnership among healthcare staff, patients and families to collaborate for continuous improvement towards building high-reliability healthcare systems. (Click here for REGISTRATION details!)

Themed, 'Partnering Patients & Families for a Holistic and Safe Healthcare System', the annual SingHealth Duke-NUS Patient Safety Week (PSW) 2022 was held in hybrid mode on 7 October 2022, in conjunction with the soft launch of the inaugural Singapore Patient Advocate Connection (SPACe).

PSW 2021 event was a significant one, as we marked the launch of the Temasek Foundation Healthcare Executives in Asia Leadership Programme (TF HEAL) – Patient Safety. This programme kick-started the inaugural Global Action for Leaders & Learning Organisations on Patient Safety (GALLOPS) initiative, which is supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO). In line with GALLOPS Programme, PSW 2021 was themed “Towards Eliminating Avoidable Harm in Healthcare".

The PSW 2019 kick-off event was aptly themed “Resilience and Safety”, and served as a good opportunity for us to discuss how we can cultivate a more resilient workforce with the safety of our patients and staff in mind. Attended by over 300 attendees, our attendees included SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN) members as well as Target Zero Harm Award recipients.

The two-hour program started with a presentation by A/Prof Lim Boon Leng on SingHealth Resilience Framework, Peer Support and Resources followed by Dr Kinjal Doshi who introduced the audience to the practice of Mindfulness.

The kick-off event was concluded with a recitation of the SingHealth Patient Safety Advocate Pledge where our Core Leaders, Institution Heads, and Domain Leads were invited onstage to recite the pledge together with the audience. (read more...)
