Are humans still needed in an age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)? In a recent interview with 《焦点》8World Online, Co-Directors from SingHealth Duke-NUS Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Institute (AIMI) said: DEFINITELY.

Associate Professor Liu Nan, Co-Director of AIMI, shares that we should use AI to enhance, not replace, human capabilities. This empowers employees, and creates a true partnership between humans and machines.

Associate Professor Daniel Ting, Co-Director of AIMI, adds that patients still want face-to-face communication. AI will help to improve efficiency so medical professionals can connect with patients at a deeper emotional level more effectively.

AIMI's insights echo the aspirations of SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC. Research in use of AI may be essential to improve workflows and productivity. However, these pursuits should not compromise the importance of human interactions with our patients in our care delivery.
