This taster hands-on workshop welcomes educators and trainees interested to experience, learn, and explore possibilities with the arts in medicine. Participants will be introduced to Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) and participate in several visual art activities such as drawing, viewing and analysis of artworks, to gain understanding on ways art-based activities help foster critical and speculative thinking, communication and developing tolerance of ambiguity to complement diagnostic skills development. This will be followed by a discussion & forum on integrating VTS to clinical practice.
Learning Outcome(s):
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Develop critical observation skills to enhance visual acumen, reasoning, and diagnostic skills
Enhance verbal describing skills to enhance clinical communication skills
Develop visual acuity in visual representation.
Target Audience:
Clinicians, educators and trainees interested to experience, learn, and explore possibilities with the arts in medicine. Experience in art is not required.
