Dr Yap Yi-Lwern Kevin

Dr Kevin Yap is a digital health strategist, healthcare innovator and an inter-disciplinary cyber-pharmacist. His interests span the whole digital healthcare innovation cycle from identifying the healthcare problem, to the development, utilisation, application and evaluation of healthcare technologies to enhance health-related outcomes and enhance patient safety. His work has been in the areas of e-databases and data mining, telehealth and mHealth, health data analytics and clinical prediction of adverse drug reactions, virtual reality and serious games, as well as quality evaluations of healthcare innovations.

He has over 100 journal publications, 4 book chapters, 1 book and presented at more than 100 local and international conferences. He has previously developed a multiplayer online role-playing serious game (MORPG) for training 21st century skills based on cognitive authenticity and gamification pedagogies. This game was featured in LianHe ZaoBao and was also awarded several awards including the Mrs Tan Shook Fong-Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore Innovation and Scientific Research Award and the prestigious Reimagine Education Awards (1,041 international entries judged by 168 judges, by the Wharton School and QS Rankings organization) – in the Discipline Awards (Life-sciences & Medicine, Gold), Regional Awards (Asia-Pacific, Silver) and Virtual/Augmented Reality Awards (Silver).
