Prof Tan Kok Hian

Prof Tan Kok Hian is Group Director & Senior Associate Dean of SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute for Patient Safety & Quality (IPSQ), Singapore. He is a member of the expert group on Patient Safety in the World Health Organisation (WHO), and serves as a consultant in patient safety and quality for WHO and regional countries. He is also Head & Senior Consultant, Perinatal Audit & Epidemiology Unit, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Founding Chair of the OBGYN Academic Clinical Programme in SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.

Prof Tan is the Benjamin Henry Sheares Professor of OBGYN at NUS. He received the WHO United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize 2009 as KKH's Integrated Perinatal Care Project Team Leader and the Inaugural National Outstanding Clinical Quality Activist Award 2010. He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Patient Safety & Healthcare Quality; and Programme Director of Duke-NUS Graduate Certificate, NUS Graduate Diploma and NUS Master in Patient Safety & Healthcare Quality. He led SingHealth Duke-NUS Resilience in Academic Medicine initiative to assess and manage burnout in healthcare which included Train-the-Trainer Workshops to develop contextualised in-house workshops (e.g. TeamTHRIVE, TeamSPEAK and TeamJOY) and 2 large healthcare interprofessional surveys of burnout and civility in 2019 & 2013.
