The event kick-started with the pre-congress workshops on 14 August, featuring topics such as skin banking, simulation training on acute burn management, laser techniques and scar management, rehabilitation and psycho-social care after burn injuries. These workshops were highly interactive and provide a focused platform to stimulate open engagement between experts and delegates on emerging issues facing the industry today.
The Main Congress followed on the 15th and 16th of August, opened by Guest-of-Honour and Senior Minister-of-State for Health Dr Lam Pin Min. The Main Congress featured various tracks on wound care chronic dressing, paediatrics wound management, operating theatre nursing, tissue engineering, innovations in rehabilitation, epidemiology and infection control.
Key speakers for the event included the President of ISBI, Prof Naiem Moiemen, who talked on the topic of "Working Together on Global Burn Challenges", as well as past presidents of ISBI, Dr Rajeev B. Ahuja and Prof William G. Cioffi. Representatives from the various countries were also invited to share on burn care in their respective countries, namely from the Asia Pacific region.
The two-day Main Congress ended off with a Gala dinner at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel. The final day of the event culminated in a visit to the newly upgraded SGH Burns Centre, followed by a Burns Support Group Forum and Art Exhibition Launch.
