Prof Gillian Harvey

Gillian Harvey is Matthew Flinders Fellow and Professor of Health Services and Implementation Research in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University. She leads the 'Better Systems' theme in the Caring Futures Institute and is a Co-Director of the Aged Care Partnering Program in the centre for Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA). Additionally, Gill is an Adjunct Professor of Implementation Science at Queensland University of Technology and an Affiliated Researcher at Dalarna University in Sweden.

Gillian has a clinical background in nursing and has held academic positions in Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester and Adelaide Nursing School, University of Adelaide. Prior to working in academia, she was Director of the UK Royal College of Nursing's Quality Improvement Program and Director of the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE) National Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Supportive Care. Her research on knowledge translation, and implementation science in health care is internationally recognised, particularly the development, evaluation, and refinement of an implementation framework – the Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services (PARIHS) framework and its most recent revision, the integrated (i-PARIHS) framework. Gill was included in the 2014 Thomson-Reuters list of highly cited researchers (social sciences category) in recognition of her work in implementation science. She has produced over 180 academic publications, including 5 books, and attracted over $44 million AUD grant funding as a Chief Investigator in the last 5 years.
