Inspiring Stories of our Clinician Investigators

Associate Professor Deidre De Silva

Clinical Professor Brian Goh

Raising the Profile of Our Clinician Investigators

Through this time, she has seen encouraging growth in support for clinician researchers in the form of programmes ranging from awareness seminars to funding programmes. As someone who had personally benefitted from initiatives supporting researchers, she was pleased to be able to play a key role in the development of SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre’s latest Clinician Investigator Advancement Programme (CIVA).

Going Beyond As A Clinician

We speak to Clinical Professor Brian Goh to find out more about his rewarding journey as a Clinician Investigator (CIV), and how the CIV Advancement Programme seeks to help doctors better achieve their research objectives with protected time and enhanced recognition.

A Unique Vantage Point into
Our Healthcare System

Advancing Autism Research
Assistant Professor Andrew Ho was among the first batch of recipients to be conferred the prestigious Clinician Investigator Advancement (CIVA) Award in 2022. A year in, Asst Prof Ho updates us about his ongoing research, and how CIVA is helping clinician researchers such as himself go further in their research journey. When Clinical Assistant Professor Mae Wong moved her paediatric career from the UK to Singapore and joined the KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) in 2011, she had already been involved in research and publishing papers on neonatal medicine. At KKH, the Senior Consultant Paediatrician found herself coming across young patients on the autism spectrum at her clinic regularly.
