International Pathology Day and Medical Students Outreach Day 2018

A Celebration of Pathology!

We celebrated International Pathology Day (IPD) on Wednesday, 21 November 2018 and commemorated the day by running two events: IPD 2018 and the 4th Medical Students Outreach Day. Over two hundred guests joined us in celebrating Pathology as our specialty.

International Pathology Day 2018

Our SingHealth Pathology Departments from Singapore General Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Sengkang Health joined forces to bring greater awareness to pathology as a specialty. Exciting booths by the various laboratories and enlightening career talks made it an enjoyable and fun event.

4th Medical Students Outreach Day

At the 4th Medical Students Pathology Quiz organised by Pathology ACP, teams from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School and NTU Lee Kong Chian Medical School battled it out for the Medical Students Pathology Quiz Challenge Shield under the watchful eyes of the Quiz-Master, Dr Jipson Quah (Resident, SingHealth Pathology Residency Programme). The Medical Students Pathology Quiz Challenge Shield was named “Minnie Pang Pathology Challenge Shield” in memory of the late Dr Minnie Pang Wen Yi (Senior Consultant of the SGH Department of Anatomical Pathology who passed away on 18 November 2018). Prizes for the quiz were supported by the Minnie Pang Pathology Academic Fund. Staff from Pathology ACP were present to cheer on the medical students. The team from Duke-NUS Medical School emerged victorious. It was a fun-filled event with plenty of laughter and excitement.

As part of the medical students’ outreach programme, Dr Leow Wei Qiang (Associate Programme Director, SingHealth Pathology Residency Programme), Dr Clement Ho (Senior Consultant, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, KKH) and Dr Ng Tong Yong (Director, Clinical Pathology Education) shared interesting insights on the life of a pathologist.
