Professor Gillian Harvey

Professor Gillian Harvey is a leading expert in healthcare improvement and implementation science, dedicated to bridging the gap between research evidence and clinical practice. As Deputy Director of Flinders University Caring Futures Institute, with lead responsibility for knowledge translation, her work focuses on advancing strategies that drive effective, sustainable change within complex healthcare settings.

With a background in nursing and a PhD in healthcare improvement, Professor Harvey has held key academic and leadership roles in both the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia, including at the University of Adelaide and the University of Manchester in the UK. She is widely recognised for her contributions to knowledge translation, organisational change, and quality improvement in healthcare.

Professor Harvey's research emphasises collaborative approaches, empowering healthcare professionals and organisations to implement innovations that enhance patient outcomes and system efficiency.

Prior to working in academia, she was Director of the UK Royal College of Nursing's Quality Improvement Program and Director of the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE) National Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Supportive Care.
