Professor Russ Biagio Altman is a leading expert in biomedical informatics and precision medicine, renowned for his groundbreaking work at the intersection of engineering, biology, and data science. His primary research interests are in the application of computing (AI, data science and informatics) to problems relevant to medicine. As a Professor of Bioengineering, Genetics, Medicine, and Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University, his research focuses on understanding drug actions, variability in drug response, and the use of AI and machine learning to advance personalised healthcare.

A member of the National Academy of Medicine and a recipient of multiple prestigious awards, Professor Altman has significantly contributed to the fields of pharmacogenomics and computational biology. He has also served as Chair of Stanford's Bioengineering Department and is the founding editor of the Annual Review of Biomedical Data Science.

Through his work, Professor Altman continues to shape the future of medicine by leveraging data-driven approaches to improve patient care and therapeutic outcomes.
