Professor Victor Dzau
President, National Academy of Medicine, United States of America

Professor Victor J. Dzau is President of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine (NAM) and Vice Chair of the U.S. National Research Council. He is an internationally acclaimed leader and physician scientist whose work has improved health and medicine in the United States and globally. Professor Dzau is a leader in health and heath policy. His overall contributions in Academic Medicine internationally have a lasting impact on both scientific community and health policy. A leader of academic medicine, he has advanced the model of "Bench to Bedside to Population to Society," to include population health, social mission, and equity in the academic mission. SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre (AMC) has been guided by this framework that he has been expounding and advocating, alongside the strategic directions of the AMC, emphasizing the importance of the new areas of convergence science and practice to population health, data science and digital technology, and community engagement.

Professor Dzau launched the Duke Institute of Global Health, founded the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School and chairs the International Board of McGill's School of Population and Global Health. He serves on the WHO/World Bank Global Preparedness Monitoring Board, is a Principal of the Global ACT Accelerator, co-chairs the G7 100-Day Mission Science and Technology Expert Group, and the Regional Vaccine Manufacturing Collaborative. He has advised the G20 on pandemic preparedness and co-chaired its Scientific Panel on Global Health Security.

Professor Dzau has been deeply engaged with Singapore for over 20 years, playing a key role in establishing Duke-NUS Medical School in 2005. He chairs the Singapore International Advisory Council of Human Health and Potential, serves on the Singapore Research Innovation and Enterprise Council, and chairs Singapore's precision medicine initiative, PRECISE. He served on the Board of Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd. His contributions have been recognized with the National University of Singapore's Outstanding Service Award, the Singapore National Day Public Service Medal, and in 2019, the title of Honorary Citizen of Singapore.
