International Pathology Day 2023

SingHealth Pathology departments from Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Sengkang General Hospital (SKGH), KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), and Changi General Hospital (CGH) joined forces to celebrate International Pathology Day (IPD) on 15 November 2023 at SGH Academia. This annual event brought together healthcare professionals, students, and educators to raise awareness on pathology as a specialty.

Insightful booths, interactive games and quizzes put together by the Pathology departments offered the participants the opportunity to explore and learn more about the different subspecialties in pathology. From cutting-edge research to innovative diagnostic techniques, each department showcased its role in patient care.

We had our 2023 Medical Students Pathology Quiz on the same day afternoon, adding an element of friendly competition to the day. Nine teams from NTU Lee Kong Cian School of Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School showcased their knowledge and battled for the Medical Students Pathology Quiz – Minnie Pang Pathology Challenge Shield under the watchful eyes of Quiz-Masters, Dr Johnston Tang (Medical Officer Trainee, SGH Dept of Clinical Pathology) and Dr Alfonso Garcia-Tan (Resident, SGH Dept of Anatomical Pathology). Team 5 from Duke-NUS emerged triumphant with Team 1 (Duke-NUS) and Team 2 (NTU LKC) as first and second runners-up. It was a fun and memorable afternoon.

As part of our ongoing outreach effort, a panel discussion with our dedicated faculty (pathologists and medical lab scientists) provided valuable insights and guidance to the students and aspiring healthcare professionals during the event.
