Ms Leizl Joy Nayahangan

Research Scientist, Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES), Copenhagen, Denmark


Leizl is a dedicated research scientist at the Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her main research centers on simulation-based education, encompassing all stages from development to implementation. Leizl has extensive experience leading national and international needs assessment processes to identify critical content for simulation-based curricula. Her scholarly interests also include the assessment of learning outcomes and the application of implementation science in the context of simulation-based education. A registered nurse by profession, Leizl holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management and a Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from the University of Illinois Chicago. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. 

Leizl plays a significant role in the academic and professional community. She serves as the co-chair of the AMEE Simulation Committee. Additionally, she contributes to the advancement of healthcare simulation as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Healthcare Simulation (JOHS) and as an Editorial Board member of Simulation in Healthcare: The Journal of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Leizl advocates for the wide implementation of evidence-based simulation-based education into medical and surgical curricula, emphasizing its essential role in enhancing healthcare training.
