Asst Prof Kazuyuki Kasahara

Asst Prof Kasahara is a clinician-scientist and an Assistant Professor of Metabolic, Nutrition, and Microbiome Medicine at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University. He completed his clinical training in cardiology and obtained his PhD from Kobe University, focusing on T cell immunity and cardiovascular diseases. He further pursued postdoctoral training under the supervision of Prof. Federico Rey at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied gut microbiome using microbial, gnotobiotic, and computational techniques. His primary research interest lies in the field of gut microbiome, specifically investigating the interplay between diet, microbiome, and host in cardiometabolic diseases. He also aims to leverage this knowledge for the identification of novel biomarkers and development of therapeutics.
