Jeannette Ickovics is the Samuel and Liselotte Herman Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Professor of Psychology. She was Founding Director of the Social and Behavioral Sciences and of CARE: Community Alliance for Research and Engagement. She served as Dean of Faculty at Yale-NUS College in Singapore from 2018-2021, where she was responsible for faculty development, research infrastructure, and curriculum across the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Ickovics’ research, funded with more than $40 million from the NIH, CDC and private foundations investigates the interplay of complex factors that influence individual and community health, especially for those traditionally marginalized. She is author of more than 230 publications in the areas of maternal health, mental health, and community health. Her newest work, funded by NASA, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Yale Institute for Global Health, focuses on climate resilience, health, and equity in cities. Dr. Ickovics is recipient of awards and recognition, including most recently the Martha May Elliot Award honoring extraordinary contributions to maternal and child health from the American Public Health Association, the Strickland-Daniel Mentoring Award from the American Psychological Association, and is an elected a member of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research.
