2022 Events

25 Nov 2022: 10th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYNACP Education Day

The 10th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYNACP Education day was held on the 25th November 2022 over zoom. It was chaired by A/Prof Tan Lay Kok, Academic Vice Chair of Education for OBGYNACP. The theme for this year's Education Day is "Returning to a New Normal – New Challenges and Opportunities" and it was well attended by over 100 participants.

We were privileged to have Prof Joseph Sung, Dean of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Prof Ian Curran, Vice Dean of Education, Duke-NUS Medical School and Prof Jennifer Cleland, Vice Dean of Education of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine shared their expertise in medical education. The topics included "Artificial intelligence in medicine", "How do we enable clinicians to be more effective educators" and "Challenges and Opportunities in Medical Education Research and what Clinicians can do to be Engaged or participate".

30 Oct 2022: CORPUS: Course for OG/Radiologists in Pelvic Ultrasonography (CORPUS)

The CORPUS course aims to train participants in the basic use of the ultrasound machine and be knowledgeable about the safe use of ultrasound in gynaecological and early pregnancy scans. It is led by A/Prof Marielle Fortier and Dr Seet Meei Jiun.

30 Sep and 7 Oct 2022: Obstetrics Anal Sphincter Injuries (OASIS) Repair Workshop

The course aims to train participants to better identify second, third and fourth degree tears as well as acquire skills in repairing tears, postnatal care as well as communications skills to improve outcomes. The course has a series of 3 lectures and a hands-on session.


9 Sep 2022: SingHealth OBGYN ACP Laparoscopy Workshop

The course targets on year 1 and 2 O&G Residents to improve their surgical skills and enhance their understanding of the fundamentals of laparoscopy surgery. It is led by Dr Jason Lim Shau Khng. The trainers include Dr Hemashree Rajesh, Dr Ravichandran Nadarajah and Dr Yang Liying.

24 Jun 2022: 8th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN ACP Clinical Practice Improvement and Patient Safety Day

The 8th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN ACP Clinical Practice Improvement & Patient Safety Day showcased clinical quality projects and talks on safety, quality, value driven care through an afternoon of interactive sharing.

We were honoured to have our keynote speaker A/Prof Ong Biauw Chi, Group Chief Risk Officer, Office of Risk Services, SingHealth sharing an inspiring talk. Dr Suzanna Sulaiman and Dr Yin Shan Qing shared their knowledge on patient safety.

A small competition for the Best Quality Improvement Project Award was held. We are thrilled and excited to see the hard work that clinicians put in to thrive for clinical excellence. This was followed by an award presentation to the winning teams as well as to individuals who contributed greatly in patient safety and clinical quality.

Best Quality Improvement Project Award is awarded to Dr Seet Meei Jiun, Dr Aimee Teong, Ms Tay Siew Guek, Ms Lynette Cheah and Dr Manisha Mathur who identify and improve waiting time of patients' consultation in Obstetrics clinic which translates to better patient experience and better clinic efficiency. The O&G Outstanding Patient Safety Champion award has been awarded to Dr Tan Wei Ching. Dr Tan motivates others and leads by example. The O&G Exemplary Clinical Quality Champion is awarded to Dr Seet Meei Jiun. Dr Seet is committed to improving quality of care and actively involved in guiding our residents through various QI projects, workshops and courses.

22 and 29 Apr 2022: TRUST (InsTRUmental Simulation Training) Course

The course was well received by Obstetrics and Gynaecology residents and doctors. It was led by Dr Manisha Mathur. It is an instrumental simulation training workshop encompassing clinical decision-making and safe operative techniques on both vacuum and forceps technique. There are didactic lectures over zoom and a Hands-on circuit.

11,18 Feb and 4,11 Nov 2022: Obstetrics Team Training in Core Skills Courses

OBGYN ACP conducted two sessions of Obstetrics Team training in Core Skills Course – Lite (Core-Lite) courses on zoom. One was held on 11,18 February 2022 and another was held on 4,11 November 2022 and the audience are residents from Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine and Anaesthesia. The course covered basic obstetrics emergency skills that can occur in any Emergency Department such as Maternal Collapse, Twin Delivery, Postpartum Haemorrhage and Pre-eclampsia.

Obstetrics Team training in Core Skills Course (CORE) was also conducted on 29 July and 5 August 2022. The course was catered to Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residents and Nurses. It covered various types of obstetrics emergency situations that can occur in labour ward such as Breach Delivery, Maternal Collapse and Neonatal Resuscitation.

21-22 Jan 2022: Asia Pacific Diabetes in Pregnancy Conference & Integrated Platform for Research in Advancing Metabolic Health Outcomes of Women and Children (IPRAMHO) International Meeting 2022

The 5th year of Asia Pacific Diabetes in Pregnancy (APDIP) and Integrated Platform for Research in Advancing Metabolic Health Outcomes of Women and Children (IPRAMHO) International Meeting 2022 was held on 21 and 22 Jan 2022 with the theme "Towards Better Maternal and Child Health in the Asia Pacific". It was well-received and attended by over 300 local and overseas delegates.

The two-day conference gathers local and international experts to share on a wide variety of topics on obesity and metabolic diseases for women and children in Asia-Pacific region. We were extremely privileged to have Guest-of-Honour Senior Minister of State, Dr Koh Poh Koon, with us to launch The Singapore Integrated 24-Hour Activity Guidelines for Early Childhood. The set of guidelines aims at standardising advice on physical activities, screen time, eating habits and sleep for children and adolescents aged seven to 18 years of age within a 24-hour period, to improve health and promote adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. The conference also serves as a great platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge among the experts on Maternal and Child Health. Studies discussed include Safe Maternity and Childbirth, Vitamin D Screening & Supplementation in Pregnancy and Metabolic Health in Pregnancy. We are proud that our residents and faculty of OBGYN ACP have taken the lead to conduct various research studies in Maternal and Child Health nationwide.
