Education Overview

The role of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) in Singapore has expanded vastly. Education and training in O&G, together with the advancement in technological development and research, have enabled Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to optimize the delivery of care for patients.

The ACP Education pillar aims to provide education and training needs of the ACP in the following areas:

1. Residency / Medical Officers

  • Educate and train O&G residents and medical officers by supporting the Programme Director of SingHealth O&G in all initiatives and curriculum planning

2. Medical Students

  • Educate and train medical students from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine
  • Common core content, learning objectives and evaluation processes are applied by the O&G departments across the ACP when educating the medical students from all three medical schools

3. Fellowship

  • Provide subspecialty fellowship programmes for O&G doctors from the region

4. Simulation

  • Conduct specialized simulation workshops and courses for O&G doctors and other professionals from other non-O&G specialties

5. Faculty Development

  • Facilitate faculty development initiatives throughout the education spectrum so that faculty are equipped with medical education knowledge and teaching skills that make them effective educators

6. Mentoring

  • Organise and collaborate with other mentoring coordinators in order to implement mentoring programmes and promote a mentoring culture in the ACP

7. Research in Education

  • Organise and support all programmes that will promote the culture and practice of education research in ACP
