29 Oct 2021: 9th SingHealth Duke NUS OBGYNACP Education Day

This year, the 9th SingHealth Duke NUS OBGYN ACP Education Day was successfully held virtually. The theme for this year’s Education Day is “Resilience amid recovery and restoration” aligning with the battle against COVID-19 in the last 22 months. This year, we had the privilege of hearing from Prof Ian Curran and Dr Ong Eng Koon. Prof Curran shared his pearls of wisdom on a healthy workplace culture with a focus on the healthcare sector and Dr Ong shared the importance of empathy in education. The event was well attended by clinicians, nurses and administrators.

8 Oct 2021: 10th Anniversary of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics Academic Clinical Programme in conjuction with the launch of SingHealth Duke-NUS Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI)

The 10th Anniversary of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Paediatrics Academic Clinical Programme was attended by more than 250 guests and representatives from both Academic Clinical Programmes.

We were privileged to have Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, as our Guest-of-Honour. In addition, the SingHealth Duke-NUS Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI) was launched with an aim to improve the health of the mother, child and family as a holistic entity by analysing and understanding their lives within their structural, social and cultural contexts.

25 – 26 Sep 2021: CORPUS Early Pregnancy and Gynae Ultrasound Course

The CORPUS Early Pregnancy and Gynae Ultrasound Course was fully subscribed and well received by O&G residents and nurses. The didactic teachings for the course was held virtually on the 25th September 2021. The practical session was held physically with safe distancing measures in place on 26th September 2021. The practical session provided opportunities for participants to perform abdominal scans on volunteers and to have an experience scanning pelvic models under the expert guidance of sonographers and senior doctors from both the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (DDII) and Department of O&G. 


22 and 29 Jul 2021: TRUST (InsTRUmental Simulation Training) Course

The TRUST Course covered various types of instrumental delivery methods such as Forceps, Kiwi Cup and C-section after intervention fails. Dr Ross McQuivey, the Chief Medical Officer at Laborie Medical Technologies, United State, who is an expert on the use of the Kiwi Cup as an instrumental delivery method, was an invited speaker. The course lectures were held virtually while the hands-on workshop was conducted at Clinic C in KK Women's and Children's Hospital with safe distancing measures in place. Attendees and faculty donned N95 masks and were separated into groups of three. Simulations of various scenarios were included and participants were able to experience intervention methods of delivery such as using a vacuum or forceps. The attendees consist of associate consultants and the faculty consist of consultants and senior consultants from Division of O&G, KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The course was well received by all who attended.

18 Jun 2021: 7th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN ACP Clinical Practice Improvement and Patient Safety Day

The 7th SingHealth Duke-NUS OBGYN ACP Clinical Practice Improvement and Patient Safety Day was held in collaboration with KKH Quality, Safety & Risk Management (KKH QSRM). The event showcased clinical quality projects and patient safety talks in an afternoon of interactive sharing.

We were honoured to have Dr Chow Mun Hong as our keynote speaker. Dr Suzanna Sulaiman and Dr Yin Shan Qing also shared their knowledge with our participants. A tight competition for the Best Quality Improvement Project Award was held and we had two teams who emerged as champions! This was followed by an award presentation to the winning teams as well as to individuals who have enhanced patient safety and clinical quality.



5 Feb and 9 Jul 2021: Obstetrics Team Training in Core Skills Courses

OBGYN ACP conducted two courses - Obstetrics Team Training in Core Skills Course – Lite (CORE Lite) and Obstetrics Team Training in Core Skills Course (CORE) - in 2021. Each course targeted different audience groups.

CORE-Lite Course was held on 5th Feb 2021 and it was designed specially for Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine doctors from Sengkang General Hospital as well as junior Medical Officers who were attending their O&G posting at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The course covered basic obstetrics emergency skills that can occur in any Emergency Department such as Maternal Collapse, Twin Delivery, Postpartum Haemorrhage and Pre-eclampsia.

The CORE course was held on 9th July 2021. The course was catered to O&G Residents. It covered various types of obstetrics emergency situations that can occur in labour ward such as Breach Delivery, Maternal Collapse and Neonatal Resuscitation. The course was well received by the Residents.

8-9 Jan 2021: Asia Pacific Diabetes in Pregnancy Conference (APDIP) & Integrated Platform for Research in Advancing Metabolic Health Outcomes of Women and Children (IPRAMHO) International Hybrid Meeting 2021

The 4th APDIP and IPRAMHO International Meeting 2021 was well-received and attended by over 500 local and overseas delegates.

Apart from having local and international experts to share a wide variety of topics on obesity and metabolic diseases for women and children in our Asia-Pacific region, the team has also presented their various studies in Gestational Diabetes Management. The Singapore Integrated 24-Hour Activity Guidelines for Children and Adolescents was launched. The Guest-of-Honour was Senior Minister of State for Health Dr Janil Puthucheary.
