Designing Effective Objectives and Quality Multiple Choice Questions (SELECTIVE)

This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the basics of writing higher order behavioural objectives and MCQs following the NBME guidelines. 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Critique and construct learning objectives using the ABCD model, at different levels of learning.
  • Propose appropriate learning and assessment strategies for a given learning objective.
  • Identify if the objectives, learning and assessment strategies are SMART within a given context.
  • Critique a series of MCQs according to the NBME guidelines, identifying common flaws.
  • Construct, present and receive feedback on two MCQs using NBME guidelines at 2 out of 3 levels of learning (knowledge; comprehension and application; problem solving) using a clinical vignette.
